Life in Quadrant 4

Finally got a copy after around 2 days of waiting. I totally suck compared to everyone else, but at least I’ve already passed 8th dan, despite my inability to on the arcade. Candy Galy [h], 革命 [a], 電人、暁に斃れる [h], and Get on Beat [a] were rough though.

I must say, it is fucking awesome. I can’t describe it any better right now. I stayed up until 3 4 in the morning just playing. If you’ll excuse me now, I will leave.

Here, I write my impressions and opinions on Touhou 11 and the entire Touhou series as it stands today, though I shall concentrate mostly on the former. Feel free to skip this entire post because it’s just a huge wall of text.

So first off, if anyone else (in the Philippines) doesn’t know it yet…

And I reiterate:

I’m hesitant to post the screening times, but I’m sure anyone with a degree in Google-fu can get them, which I guess makes the entire point moot. Because there probably won’t be another chance like this, I’m going to try and get to all three screenings. Seeing as it’s a free showing, in 35mm no less (which apparently is loads better than DVD quality), however, I’m sure I’d be lucky to get to watch even it even once.

And in other news, I got myself a copy of DMP’s Megami Deluxe – an American version of what “it [DMP] determines is the best of the magazine.” [Wikipedia] It’s completely unlike a Megami since it only concentrates on the posters and rather than just throwing in a random bunch of posters from currently airing anime, it gathers a whole lot of them, then categorizes them into themes (ie: swim wear, school uniforms, etc.).
Seeing as some posters are from some older shows like Mahoraba, it didn’t surprise me that there were some shows I’d never even heard of before, like UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie However, most shows are still relatively new – I’d at least recognized most of the series included, such as AIR, Kamichu!, Galaxy Angel, Ichigo Marshmallow, Negima!, FMP! TSR, and Shuffle!
Was this a good book? Yes, it’s definitely a step closer to bringing awesome stuff like Megami to the English-speaking community. Was this a good buy? I’d say… kinda. The book itself set me back 1,100 Php (over 25 USD) and while it did come with a huge 15″ x 41″ poster (dakimakura style, mind you), it was of Mai and Arika from Mai Hime and Otome, and that’s not really my thing.
However, the second volume’s yet to be released, and it will come with – get ready for this – a similarly sized poster from Nanoha A’s. FUCK YEAH. I seriously have to get that, no matter what the cost. According to RightStuf, it comes out on July 22nd, so go preoder it or something. Anyway, the rest of the pictures after the jump.

When people heaped praises upon ARIA, I was hesitant. I thought to myself that it was just another slice-of-life anime.

I was so wrong.

Yet another impulse buy. Shops seriously need to stop selling stuff at half price.

So here, we have another magical girl to complement the previous (and superior) one. As one can infer from the title, she’s Hiiragi Chihaya. Apparently, Chihaya comes from the anime (and OVA/eroge), Magical Canan. Given that it’s from around 2004 (I started getting into fansubs around 2005~2006), I know nothing of the show except from what’s on Wikipedia; therefore, I can judge the figure based solely on its own, which I shall do after the jump.
