Life in Quadrant 4

Got myself some nice fountain pen ink – Aurora Blue – and it went for pretty cheap too. I’ll probably start buying bottles en masse and hoarding them because there aren’t any other decent places to get the stuff.

Also, my grandmother died. Apparently a blood vessel in her head burst and she lapsed into a coma. They terminated the meds and she died three days later – around 1 am today.

I don’t know why, but I don’t really feel sad about it. I mean, while she is family, we were never that close. No real bonds were formed I guess, and when you don’t become attached to something or someone, it’s just that much easier to let go.

Saw it in the window while headed home. I initially dismissed it as a bad idea, though when the cover indicated it had stuff from Shana, Clannad, Lucky Star, StrikerS, and sola, the inner stupid money-spender in me had to have it. So I got it.
I’m sure someone else more diligent than I has scanned it, so I won’t bother (and my scanner’s busted anyway, so the point’s moot). Megami Deluxe, as always, also includes a ginormous pinup – this time with Nanoha, Fate, and Hayate in cosplay (cover image) and Shana and the group in bunny suits.

It’s almost a year since this aired and I only watched it now to catch up with the newer season. I prepared myself for a soap-opera-like show, sappy romance, or any of the trappings one would normally expect from visual novel adaptations, exceptions aside. Yet I got so much more than that.

Do excuse whatever I will begin to write from here on if it has any deficiencies in intelligibility, sense, logic, and so on.

Alright, so I seem to have not upheld my promise of making that third post on Spring season stuff. God, I am an unreliable piece of shit. Anyway, here’s the tentative list of shows I’ll end up watching at least the first episode of, as well as the rest of the stuff. Plus comments. The contents of this will be based on the rather useful post on THAT Anime blog. Many thanks go to them for having to research all that.

CHAOS;HEAD
The visual novel was awesome, incorporating psychological horror-ish elements, gore, delusions (rofl), and science fiction (can anyone say quantum physics?). Hopefully the anime will be more of the same, though the staff is… somewhat disenheartening.
Hakushaku to Yousei
Watching just because it has Tomokazu Sugita.
Tales of the Abyss
My brother played this, and I ended up watching him when I was bored. Tear is love.
Gundam Balls
I watched this before, might as well keep going.
Hyakko
I’ve heard praise for the source material – a manga I believe – so I’ll be watching out of curiosity.

“Crazy Shrine Maidens.” Awesome.

I read a bit of the manga (like, 2 chapters) and it wasn’t all that bad.
